Asphalt Debut

Dillon made his asphalt racing debut on Saturday, the 28th of March, at Concord Motorsports Park. It was quite an eventful day. It rained early in the morning and they did not get the track dried out until the afternoon which cancelled one practice session. During practice Dillon was only .756 of a second from the leader, which was good for his first time on asphalt. With the rain came cooler temperatures with a high of 47 degrees for the day. The cold temperature did not help Dillon in his qualifying effort and he did not make the race on time. He ran in the non-qualifiers race starting dead last and finished 7th, not bad for his first attempt. They only took the top 4 to the A main. One of the coolest things to go into the scrapbook for his first outing, his spotter for his first ever asphalt race was two time NASCAR Busch Champion Randy LaJoie. We want to thank Randy and Shane Brafford, Dillon’s crew chief, for all the help and coaching they have given Dillon. This was our first opportunity to have an over the wall pit crew. Tim, Jason, Steven and Corey LaJoie's crew are truly first class guys that have really helped us a lot. We had the good fortune to met Larry McReynolds who came to the race to watch his son Brandon race after performing his broadcasting duties for Fox Television. It was a pleasure to meet him. It’s fun to be able to race with Brandon and Corey who are very talented drivers. Both Brandon and Corey qualified on time but unfortunately got caught up in a wreck on a restart and tore up both race cars pretty bad. Dillon continues to improve on asphalt and once he gets more comfortable behind the wheel they better look out! If he is only 3/4 of a second off the leaders time on his first attempt racing on asphalt he doesn't have far to go to be right up there with the leaders.
